Buena Vista Young Guns 2022 Spring and Fall Season Wrap Up

The Buena Vista High School USA Clay Target Team boasted a roster of 28 registered and unregistered team members. The athletes performed well and above the best expectations. The team followed the first-place team with a 100-point spread between the Buena Vista “Young Guns” and Brighton High School in points race of 3200-point first place. The Young Guns finished the spring season tournament in a solid 2nd place in the 3A league.

The spring season has a final state tournament, in that final state tournament the lady Gunners fielded a full squad (of five) plus 2 at the Colorado State High School finals in Brighton Colorado @ Colorado Clays shooting park. All in all, the Young Guns fielded 3 full squads (of five) a total of 15 athletes. In a field of 19 High School teams the Young Guns finished 5th in a tight field of the top 5 teams. There were only 12 targets between 5th and 1st place at the State tournament.

The Young Guns had an exceptional fall season as well. Stutter stepping out of the gate, the young guns rocketed to the top of the class. After the struggles at the start of the season the young guns did not look back, leaving only 1.5 points for the other 4 teams to divide on week 5 of the fall season in the 2A league. In the fall season the young guns also boasted the 1st place lady, Mara Green and the 1st place male athlete, Dawson Martinez in the 2A league.

The Young Guns will be back at it this spring, if you have a 6" grader (12 yr. old) to a senior in High School come out and see what we are up to.
