Practical Pistol Shoot Moves to Saturday Morning

We will be holding a weekly practical pistol shoot on Saturday mornings, starting at 10am and lasting 2 - 3 hours. You don't have to stay the entire time. There is a $5 / shooter fee to shoot. This helps the club cover target maintenance and purchasing steel targets.

The Saturday pistol shoots will be led by Rex Roberson, BVSC Pistol Chairman. Rex is also an NRA and USCCA Certified Pistol Instructor and NRA Range Safety Officer.

The weekly events will focus on pistol shooting fundamentals and practical shooting skills.

– Proper shooting stance
– Proper handgun grip
– Target acquisition and sight alignment
– Recoil control
– Target transitions
– Strong and weak hand shooting
– Reloading
– Shooting and moving
– Malfunction clearing
– Drawing from a holster

This is not a competitive event, however we will be using competitive style formats in our learning environment. Each week will have a different format. Some weeks we will shoot steel targets, some weeks we will shoot paper targets, some weeks we will shoot paper and steel and shoot while moving through a course.

Here are some examples of the kind of shooting we will be doing.
